Let's Zumba! Roxanne
UPDATE as of 07/10/20 IN-STUDIO CLASSES POSTPONED I have been monitoring the recent trend of cases and stats here in Sonoma County over the past week. I was hopeful that the news would not eventually unfold as it has. The Press Democrat reports that local health officials have been notified that Sonoma County will appear on the state coronavirus watchlist today. And while fitness facilities have not specifically been named as one of the businesses that must be curtailed, I feel that in good conscience I should not be hosting an indoor aerobic fitness gathering at this time. Therefore, all of my upcoming in-studio class sessions have been postponed.
To be frank, this hurts my heart. We are all finding ourselves in a place where we need to make difficult decisions and that the information we base our choices on is quickly and constantly shifting. And as always, I am guided by wanting the best health for you, for me, for everyone.
If you’re interested in seeing a select few of the many articles and sources that helped me make this decision, here are some factual and insightful ones:
HOPEFUL HAPPENINGS I know I’m not the only one who was really looking forward to joining up for some Zumba fun. On that note, I want to let you in on an exciting something that I’m currently working on. I have an amazing jaw dropping gorgeous wide open OUTDOOR wine country vineyard-adjacent location that would be so awesome for a socially distanced evening Zumba sesh. Sound like a good option? I definitely think so! So I’m working on making that happen. I hope that this can offer a glimmer of positivity in a moment of time that can otherwise feel bleak. More info to follow on these outdoor plans.
Please note: Classes are cancelled 07/20 - 7/24 as I’ll be camping with my kids and husband.

I’ve never had a cancellation fee before now, and I really don’t like to have to enforce it, so please cancel in time. That way, the spot can open up and someone on the waitlist can participate.

ABOUT ZUMBA® FITNESS You're on the verge of trying Zumba®...
One of the biggest part-comment/part-questions I get from people is steeped in doubt and usually goes something like this… “Zumba. What is it? I’m not sure I can do it.” They go on to say, “I’ve never tried it . . . I’m really out of shape. . . I’m really uncoordinated. . . what happens if I can’t make it through class?”
Our first reply is always the same. . . do not worry. Really. It is nothing worth fussing over. Quite the opposite. We are all there to have fun. No judgment. Any fitness level can feel comfortable doing Zumba. Zumba has a base in Latin dance, but I choreograph moves to repeat, not be too complex and have the ability to be easily followed and picked up. Missteps are inevitable and no big deal. We tell our classes that nobody is watching you. . . they’re more focused on their own moves! Besides, mistakes are just proof that you’re trying, right? Typically, for absolute out-of-shape beginners, you’re hooked from your first class. . . but by about your eighth class, moves become more natural, you’re more able to anticipate what's next, and your fitness and stamina are already improving. Even instructors have been known to be a fumbling giggling mess during their first class. Things can obviously change, but what won’t is how much fun it is and how much we love Zumba. It has reawakened a spirit within, and given us fit, strong and happy bodies. . . even after a combined six kids. But enough about us. Back to you. We encourage all class participants to modify the intensity of their movements to match their fitness level. Whether you’re an athlete or you haven’t exercised in years, you can take the class at your pace. Jump higher and squat lower if you desire or take a moment by walking in place to catch your breath. Just keep moving. You will smile, you will sweat, you will accomplish goals. But first, you must try. Check it out for yourself by coming to class.
What is Zumba®?
The Zumba® program is an effective, exhilarating, Latin-inspired, easy-to-follow, calorie-burning dance-fitness party that has taken the fitness industry by storm. Zumba® achieves a perfect balance of an all-over fitness experience. . . a progressive core workout, full-body cardio, strength training, and a stress-relieving, energy-producing workout in disguise. We fell in love when we took our first classes years ago. Today, more than 12 million people all sizes, shapes and ages take weekly Zumba® classes in over 110,000 locations across more than 125 countries. We design our classes to be easy-to-follow for both newcomers and Zumba® veterans. Boring? Oh no. Each of our 60 minute Zumba® classes use music and moves full of infectious fun... we can't help but simultaneously sweat and smile. Come experience a class in-person. Click here for our class schedule. ALL levels welcome!
